Energy Saving Tips
Lower your heating bill with a humidifier. Humidity levels in the winter can get down to 15%. That's as dry as the desert. When humidity is low the moisture on our skin evaporates more readily and evaporation cools us. By raising the humidity, evaporation from your skin slows down and you will feel warmer at a lower temperature. You can lower your thermostat as much as 2 degrees and "feel" just as warm with proper humidity.
Check and replace weather stripping. Heat lost by drafts dramatically affect the cost of heating your home.
Increase the insulation in your attic. Most homes don't have adequate insulation. Hot air rises and without proper insulation you lose the heat through the ceiling.
Replace or upgrade old windows. About 1/3 of your home heat loss it through windows.
